Sukriti Sharma is a revered Kathak artist and dedicated educator, renowned for her profound adherence to the traditional tenets of the Lucknow Gharana. Her journey in Kathak commenced at the tender age of eight under the tutelage of Guru Shri Ashok ChakraBorty, followed by a decade of immersive and disciplined training with the esteemed Guru Shri Krishan Mohan Mishra at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, India. Further solidifying her artistic foundation, Sukriti served as a repertory artist for four years under the legendary Padma Vibhushan Smt. Shovana Narayan, earning her distinction as a Delhi Doordarshan Graded Artist. For Sukriti, Kathak is deeply personal; it’s a cherished coping mechanism that offers an escape from routine, bringing immense happiness, opportunities to travel, and the joy of being known for her passion.

Sukriti’s illustrious performance career spans continents, having graced the stages of India’s most prestigious festivals including the Konark Festival, Surya Festival, and Kathak Mahotsava. In Canada, she has been a vibrant force in the dance community, featured at events such as Momentum Festival, Angikam, ArohaFest, Salaam Rehmaan, and Toes For Dance. She has actively participated in various workshops, delving into the diverse facets of Kathak under the guidance of masters such as Smt. Shama Bhate, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Smt. Alokparna Guha, Deepti Gupta, and Madhu Natraj Kiran. A testament to her collaborative spirit and versatility, Sukriti was a core part of Sampradaya Dance Creation’s acclaimed production Mandala, which toured extensively across India in 2022. She has also worked with Arzoo Dance Theatre since 2018, recently touring Self Portraits with Amrita to the Asia Pacific Dance Festival 2025 in Hawaii. Her collaborative work extends to diverse choreographers including Deepti Gupta, Lata Pada, Tanveer Alam, and Hemant & Vaishali Panwar. Furthermore, she contributed as a vocalist for the National Ballet of Canada’s production with Tanveer Alam.
A recipient of mentorship grants from Sampradaya Dance Creation and the Toronto Arts Council, Sukriti is deeply committed to sharing her knowledge. She has conducted workshops for institutions like Bollywood Dance School, DanceWeekend 2025, and various schools across the Greater Toronto Area. As the founder of Sukriti Kathakaar, she passionately teaches Kathak to students of all levels in Toronto and Mississauga, faithfully imparting the authentic essence of the Lucknow Gharana as taught by her gurus. Sukriti aims to cultivate a thriving Kathak community in Canada, fostering mutual support and creating abundant opportunities for fellow artists to flourish.
